Seven breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji! A classic half-day tour of the best viewpoints.

Arakurayama Sengen Park is famous as one of Japan's most spectacular viewpoints of Mount Fuji. Located at the foot to the middle of Mount Arakura, the park offers breathtaking views of the town of Fujiyoshida below and the symmetrical, beautiful form of Mount Fuji beyond, accessible by climbing 398 steps to the observation deck. In particular, during the cherry blossom season in spring, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of Mount Fuji, a five-story pagoda, and cherry blossoms—all iconic symbols of Japan. However, its charm isn't limited to spring; throughout the four seasons, the harmony between Mount Fuji, which changes its appearance with each season, and the park's natural environment creates a beautiful landscape.

Fujimi Kōtoku Park, which is counted among the "100 Best Views of Mount Fuji in the Kanto Region," offers breathtaking scenery of Mount Fuji and the changing seasons. In spring, the blooming Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms and snow-capped Mount Fuji are a beautiful sight; in summer, the lush green leaves of the trees enhance the beauty of Mount Fuji; and in autumn, the contrast between the fiery red autumn leaves and the snow-capped Mount Fuji is said to be stunning.

On March 30, 2024, the Shimoyoshida Tourist Information Center opened on Honmachi Street.

Honmachi Street, a street running through the heart of Fujiyoshida that stretches out towards Mount Fuji, has become a popular Mount Fuji viewing spot on social media. The sight of Mount Fuji towering amidst the charming signs and lanterns of the shops lining the street, and the haphazardly intertwined power lines, is truly a one-of-a-kind spectacle. Photos taken from here are frequently posted on Instagram, and recently, many tourists and photographers have been visiting to capture photogenic pictures.

Furthermore, on either side of Honmachi Street are districts known as "Higashiura" and "Nishiura." Higashiura was once a bustling area within the Shimoyoshida district, which thrived on the textile industry during the Showa era, with many wholesalers lining the streets. Even today, it retains an atmosphere that makes you feel as if you've traveled back in time to the Showa era.

Furthermore, Nishiura once flourished as one of the leading entertainment districts in the Kanto region, and even today it is known as a dining area with approximately 100 establishments, including izakayas, yakitori restaurants, restaurants, jazz bars, long-established Japanese restaurants, and snack bars.

One of the remnants of the Mount Fuji faith is the "Golden Torii," a symbol of Fujiyoshida. The torii gate, which stands straddling the road, was once considered an entrance to the world of Mount Fuji worship. Even now, with Mount Fuji registered as a World Cultural Heritage site, the torii gate remains a beloved symbol of Mount Fuji faith culture for many people, not just the locals. Furthermore, the sight of Mount Fuji framed between the torii gate and the sacred rope dedicated to it is a precious view of Mount Fuji that can only be seen here.
This golden torii gate was formerly called "karakane torii" (Chinese bronze torii). Karakane refers to bronze, as the manufacturing method of this metal was introduced from Tang (China). It is believed that "karakane torii" later became corrupted into "kintorii" (golden torii).
It is also known as "Ichino Torii" (First Torii Gate) because it is the first gate on the Yoshida Trail leading to the summit of Mount Fuji. Not only does it serve as a "gate" welcoming pilgrims to Mount Fuji, but it also stands as a sacred "boundary" separating the secular world from the world of worship surrounding Mount Fuji, and it continues to stand tall on the path leading to Mount Fuji.

Fujiyama Beer, made with natural water drawn from 100 meters underground near Mount Fuji, is a local craft beer unique to Fujiyoshida, a town at the foot of Mount Fuji. Brewed using methods passed down from a master brewer in Germany, the home of beer, and using German brewing equipment and high-quality European malt and hops, this beer is characterized by its crisp taste, moderate bitterness, and refreshing hop aroma. It is served at Harvest Terrace in the Fujiyoshida Roadside Station area and is also a popular item for mail order.

Suwa no Mori Nature Park, with its lush green lawns and stunning views of Mount Fuji, is a great spot for picnics for families and couples. The spacious park allows visitors to relax with a packed lunch and picnic blanket, or play ball games. As its name suggests, Pines Park is home to a cluster of large Japanese red pine trees, some exceeding 30 meters in height. Visitors can sit in the shade of the pine trees to read a book, or take a nap while enjoying the pleasant breeze during a drive.

This vast area, with its tranquil scenery, is also known as a viewpoint for Mount Fuji, towering majestically beyond terraced fields and rice stalks. As its name suggests, this rural park is home to various types of vegetables and rice cultivated by local farmers. Farmlands are scattered throughout the area, growing crops such as Milky Queen rice, corn, and watercress, which can only be grown in this land where delicious, cold water is always available. When the rice paddies are filled with water, you can see Mount Fuji reflected in the water, creating a stunning inverted image of the mountain. The scenery changes dramatically between early summer, when the rice stalks are not yet fully grown, and autumn, when the rice stalks are heavy with grain and gleam golden, allowing you to enjoy a variety of views depending on the time of day and season.
