STOP!! Bullet climbing

Let's stop doing bullet-class mountain climbing!

What exactly is a "bullet climb"?!

"Bullet climbing" refers to a style of mountain climbing where you depart from the 5th station of Mount Fuji at night and aim for the top of Mount Fuji in one go, without staying overnight in a mountain hut.

What's so dangerous about it?!

Many climbers attempt to ascend Mount Fuji, which has a significant elevation difference, in one go without sufficient rest. As a result, their bodies cannot adapt to the changing environment, and many fall ill. Furthermore, climbing while fatigued increases the risk of accidents.

Falling accident

Mount Fuji has many rocky areas, and falling there could lead to serious injury.

Rockfall accident

The hiking trail is littered with rocks of various sizes, and there is a risk of rockfalls if you walk along the edge of the trail. These rocks can be extremely dangerous if they hit hikers below. In fact, there have been fatal accidents caused by rockfalls in the past. When climbing, be sure to climb on the mountain side to avoid causing a rockfall accident.

The environment around Mount Fuji is harsh!

The nighttime temperature on Mt. Fuji is comparable to that of mid-winter. Furthermore, the strong winds make it feel even colder.

Hypothermia

When the body becomes completely chilled, it loses its normal functions. Hypothermia can cause severe shivering and loss of consciousness, and in the worst cases, it can be fatal.

Don't recommend bullet climbing!

Those who have climbed Mount Fuji may be asked about it by others. However, "bullet climbing" (climbing Mount Fuji in one go) is an extremely dangerous activity, so if you know someone who is considering it, please tell them to refrain from doing so.

Regarding restrictions on private cars

Restrictions on private vehicles on the Fuji Subaru Line during the 2026 climbing season

Private vehicle restrictions are in place on the Fuji Subaru Line.

During the restricted period, private cars are not allowed to pass through the area. Visitors to the 5th station of Mt. Fuji should transfer to a shuttle bus (for a fee) or taxi at the Mt. Fuji Parking area.

While electric vehicles (EVs) and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) are exempt from private vehicle restrictions, they must be checked in advance at the Mt. Fuji Parking area in order to travel on the Fuji Subaru Line.

Those wishing to travel by private car should bring their vehicle registration certificate and come to the Mt. Fuji Parking area. (Before the private car restriction begins, the tourist information center is open from 9:00 to 17:00; during the private car restriction period, the toll booth is open 24 hours.)

*You cannot get your verification done at the entrance to the Fuji Subaru Line!
